The WOW Factor: Tile and Stone

Tile America visited our offices last week for an informative lunch and learn.  Their sales manager Sheri is extremely passionate about their products and showed VDG new innovative tile and stone on the market for some of our modern home designs. She left us with amazing literature and binders which included samples for our office library. It is always easier to show a client first hand in an exploratory meeting what we have in mind for their project in house before stepping foot into the tile showroom. We were very impressed with many products that we saw but there were two that really stood out to us.

WOW

WOW is a contemporary and architectural vision to traditional ceramic which fits in beautifully with our favored design aesthetic. The tile is attractive and subtle yet contemporary, whilst maintaining the qualities of ceramic durability and resistance.  This 3 dimensional product is ideal for feature walls, backsplashes or any wall application. It can be laid in various ways to achieve different patterns and is available in 6 colors and 2 finishes. We love how a simple wall or functional tile installation could suddenly become a unique piece of art.

Stone Impressions

Stone Impressions’ founder, Melinda Earl is a trained painter. She began experimenting with transferring images to stone back in the 1990s.  Since well-known methods were time-consuming, she developed her own patented hand printed process. Melinda was able to create a stunning image on a porous material such as natural stone or cement. This process enables designers to use this stone for multiple applications such as a kitchen backsplash, in a bathroom, entryway or office building. We are able to choose from their extensive library or create a custom design. The opportunities are vast, which initiate endless creative possibilities for an architect.
